The Challenge

Lyko wanted to build a greenfield mobile app that combined traditional e-commerce with a social media platform. The goal was to create a highly dynamic, "native-feel" experience where almost every view could be controlled via their existing CMS.

Greenfield Architecture

I worked as a key developer on the app team, responsible for setting up the architecture and CI/CD pipelines.

• Built a flexible layout component system that allows Episerver (CMS) to dynamically control the app's UI structure while maintaining native performance.
• Implemented advanced animations for the "Social Story Mode" using Reanimated 2/3.
• Automated the entire build and release process to the App Store using Azure DevOps and Fastlane.

Native Integrations

To achieve the best possible user experience, we needed to bridge several native functionalities.

• Worked with Swift and Kotlin to expose native APIs to the React Native layer.
• Optimized list performance for infinite scrolling feeds containing heavy media content.
• Ensured accessibility (VoiceOver/TalkBack) support throughout the dynamic UI components.

Impact

The result was a highly rated app that seamlessly blends shopping with community features, empowering Lyko's marketing team to update campaigns and layouts instantly without app updates.
